My dining room needed some color and it’s lacking in décor because all I have in there are literally the dining table and chairs and a tropical foliage houseplant. To be honest, I have not done anything to the space since we moved in besides the furniture and hanging up a few paintings.
I wanted to show a little love by bringing some fall colors into the room. I picked up this unfinished, natural wine crate from Total Wine and thought it would be the perfect piece to bring all my fall décor favorites happily together. I’d planned on drilling holes to add handles, but I love it without the handles…for now anyway.
This DIY project took me about 30 minutes to put together and can easily be achieved by bringing together your favorite fall pieces/elements, and can be scaled up (meaning, add as many elements as possible), or scaled down (with as little pieces as possible). I didn’t want to overwhelm the table by adding too much stuff; my goal was just to display these cute mini pumpkins, gourds, candle, some flowers / pants harmoniously on this beautiful vintage table.
I have wanted to create a simple fall tablescape centerpiece for a while now. So I started by placing the mini pumpkins and gourds on the (wine crate) tray then added cut flowers (already prepped and in different vases), placing the taller vases in the back and shorter ones in the front. I also used a couple of different mason jars to give it some visual interest. You can use any cut flowers, stems, or sprigs of your choice, in as much or as little as you want–it’s totally up to you.
I love how the colors of the flowers, plant, and gourds all play off of each other.
Again, I wasn’t trying to be fancy so this is super casual. If I was having a dinner party, of course, I would definitely add a larger bouquet of fresh cut flowers and maybe have a couple of pumpkin vase-inspired arrangements on each side of the tray. This was such a fun impromptu, 30 minutes styling for this space and I’m so happy with how it came out. I can’t wait to add more to it for holiday dinner party. So if you’re like me and are looking for easy fall centerpieces with some autumn elements that is simple and inexpensive, I’m hear to tell you it’s totally doable!
Outtake of my little helper! Lol, thanks Elliott!
